Yippie Ki-Yay cowpokes and greenhorns! We here at Private Island love a good ole’ fashioned Western Flavored Cowboy Party; the ten gallon hats, the six shooters, and then some. Cowboys have had their time in the sun, and have experienced countless revivals of interest with Hollywood, Spaghetti Westerns and Country Music, but nothing beats throwing on the Hat and riding into the sun yourself with a truly wild west inspired Cowboy Party.
Now, an important factor in your Cowboy Party is the outfits your guests wear in attendance. There’s no need to be brutal in your enforcement, but you may have to draw the line and require a Cowboy Hat, bandanna and boots to preserve the spirit of the event.
Well partner, you’re probably gonna need some wild animals, hay, guns, horses, boots, spurs, saddles and general honky tonk type décor if you wanna really capture the essence of the Western flavored Cowboy Party. Anything with roosters, chickens, pigs, goats is reminiscent of a wilder time, as would decorations featuring cactus, wildflowers, and the bright sun to bring the emotions of the prairie to your home. It is important to note that if the event is a proper affair as opposed to a hootenanny, décor is simply as important as one requires.
Your Traditional Cowboy refreshments include Sarsaparilla, Whiskey and according to most sources any dish you load up with additional beans and bacon. There are many “cowboy” variations of traditional dishes, most do include making the dish more hot, meaty and generally hardy. Another variation is go decidedly southwestern which includes your burritos, nachos, tacos, empanadas and tortas, the vital factor no matter what manner you wish to approach the chow, the most important part of the Cowboy Party chuckwagon is to go Rustic. Simply make the most of what you have, just like a pioneer.
There are many ways to approach this aspect of the Cowboy Party, which more or less depends on the crew you are entertaining and what they will take too, some of your many options in this regard include Square Dancing, Western Film and television, Country Music and games which test one’s prowess and strength in traditional cowboy activities (including lassoing, riding, arm wrestling, card playin’ and sharp shooting) It totally depends on the vibe you’re going for, be it wild and rugged, or relaxed and proper, There may not be enough room in this town for the both of us, but there is enough room for our different Cowboy Party styles.
