Healthy Halloween Treats For The Family

Obviously, Halloween and candy go hand in hand. If you’re counting calories or just looking to eat a little healthier, Halloween can be a tricky time. It doesn’t have to be! There are plenty of healthy Halloween treats to sate your sweet tooth without packing on the pounds. Try some of our favorite ghoulish treats. They won’t pack on the pounds and they’ll look great at your Halloween Party.

Creepy Carrot Fingers

Your guests will die to get their fingers on these fingers from Spoonful! Not only is this dip wildly easy to make, the sliced almond “finger nails” will add a spooky twist to your Halloween menu. Start by finding your favorite vegetable dip. You’ll find it in the vegetable aisle of your grocery store. If you’re looking to save some calories, opt for the low-fat or lite dips. Pick up a pack a package of regular carrots and baby carrots. You’ll also need softened cream cheese and sliced almonds. Preparing this recipe is simple. First, fill a medium bowl with your favorite veggie dip. Peel four long carrots. These carrots will be the fingers in the bowl. Peel a smaller carrot for the thumb. With a small knife, cut a small, flat notch at the tips of each carrot. Dab a small amount of cream cheese on the tip and “glue” a sliced almond in place. Put the fingers and thumb in the bowl and place a bunch of baby carrots around your bowl for dipping. This is hands down one of the best healthy Halloween treats out there.

Wormy Jell-O

A few wormy cups of Jello-O from the website Parenting is one of the best healthy halloween treats. Jell-O is a low-calorie snack that both adults and kids love. This isn’t a regular Jell-O recipe. Mixing packages will create a glowing treat. And topping it off with a few delicious worms will really bring home the Halloween feel. Best of all, these healthy halloween treats are inexpensive and easy to make. To start, you’ll need to packages of Jell-O. Lime and cherry work well together but consider using your favorite flavors instead! Prepare the first pack and divide among eight small mason jars. Only fill the jars half way. Allow the Jell-O to set in the refrigerator. Once it has set, prepare your second flavor. While it is cooking, place three or four gummy worms on the set lime Jell-O. Let a few hang over the side for fun! Pour your second flavor over the top of the worms and fill to the top. Refrigerate it again to allow it to set.
